No matter how hard the push or the pull it never brings either of us any closer than we were when we were young. Not a single time since you left for that city and drowned yourself in whiskey have I felt the same. Naively we think we’ve grown as people as lovers but distance is a black hole that blinds us from ever seeing and truly knowing where the other is We go on blindly believing constantly deceiving in a ring, a circle a continual fight. confined to our corners our breathing, labored our shoulders, heavy. The only time we ever meet is in the center fists high with fights so epically riveting they should be broadcast 24/7 on HBO. throwing hooks and uppercuts and jabs until we have no love left to give.
One of the many reasons I am so glad to be back in Chicago.

Blitzen Trapper

It’s a bad photo, but it cracked me up.
Be sure to check out Blitzen Trapper and Joe Pug when you get the chance! They’re both killer artists. :)
Enjoy!
It’s been a while since I’ve posted some music up! Here’s a new song I’ve been working on.
Hope everyone’s having a swell (but not sweltering) day!
Keep your ears peeled for more tunage.

Tonight is my last night in Nashville, and I have to admit I was actually kind of bummed when I was turning my keys in, packing up, and saying my goodbyes.
It’s going to be bittersweet leaving this place behind. This city and its people have really shown me a good time. I’ve learned life is less about the suit and tie, and more about following your heart and embracing the struggles life may throw your way. Not only this, but that we are also united in our life experiences and our hardships far more than we know. To live & love is the Nashville way. I’ve also had the blessing of meeting some real quality individuals I know I will cross paths with time and again in the near future. My life is far better now that y’all are in it.
So, though I’m not a photographer, here’s a photo post to you:
NASHVILLE, TENNESSEE!
Thank you for one hell of a year. I’m sure I will see you again soon.

Easter is probably my favorite holiday. There’s just an air about it that I seem to enjoy-the beginning of Spring, seeing all my cousins run around the yard scrounging for eggs. Here’s a few photos I took from my weekend home.
Happy Spring!

My Godson Noah, he’s a character…

It’s never a true Ortiz family party without the presence of my amazing grandma (or Nanay), Crispina Ortiz. She truly is an inspiration to me and my family and quite frankly, without her constant guidance over the years my family would not be as close-knit as we are today. Raising and bringing over nine children from Paete, Laguna to the United States ain’t easy!
Here’s a quick photo of Nanay I took of her my last night in town—She’s sporting that Bulls Dynasty hat and lookin’ flyyyyyy.

Enjoy! and MUSIC SOON! I promise.

Family parties with the Ortiz family is always a hoot, and I’ve definitely enjoyed my time being back home for spring break. It’s been especially awesome to hang out with my Godson Noah, who just recently celebrated his first birthday. It’s crazy how quickly a year goes by and how much I miss while I’m away…this kid always cracks me up.

Just another photo.
This is one of my good friends, Jacqueline.

I went to another civil war reenactment for a friend of mine on his masters...
